Antonio Conte’s Chelsea future remains up in the air after the 3-0 loss to Bournemouth last night and Italian manager could be sacked from his job within 23 days.
Conte’s moaning has already angered owner Roman Abramovich over the Blues transfers business, his handling of Diego Costa’s exit last campaign, and his treatment to David Luiz.
The Blues hierarchy believe that Italian manager will force a departure at the end of the current campaign and would prefer to wait until then instead of axing him, to save the money on any compensation deal.
Abramovich is still likely to hold fire, but the Blues last-16 Champions League clash with Barcelona could be decider for Antonio Conte’s future.
Defending Premier League champions face crunch away games at top-four rivals Man Utd then title favourites Man City before the return leg at Camp Nou. A poor set of results could persuade Chelsea owner to act even though Blues could by then be in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and still fighting for the top-four place in the Premier League.
Former Barca coach Luis Enrique has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Antonio Conte. Meanwhile, former Juventus boss is believed to have already received a job offer from Italy.
